Gadget of the week: Aeron chair from The Ugly Truth
Posted on September 1, 2009
Katherine Heigl’s TV producer Abby Richter is one serious control freak in new rom-com The Ugly Truth, co-starring Gerard Butler. She runs background checks on her blind dates (a move that proves a turn-off) and runs her show and life according to strict rules and codes. This fastidiousness proves problematic in the love department (enter Butler’s chauvinistic shock jock Mike Chadway to show her the error of her ways), but we think there’s one thing to be said for it – Abby’s taste. Whether it be her clothes or her apartment, it all looks incredible (learn how to get Abby’s look here) and this finesse and style even continues to her office furniture and we’ve spotted that, when at work, she uses an Aeron chair – this week’s gadget spot.
Designed by Don Chadwick and Bill Stumpf for the Herman Miller brand, the Aeron chair has revolutionised office chairs since its introduction in 1994. The work of two decades worth of research, the ergonomic chair is uniquely designed to complement the way people sit and what activities they perform while sat. This means that whatever size or shape you are, the Aeron chair will comfortably meet your needs. It’s available in a range of sizes and is easily customised using the lumbar support, the height adjuster and pivoting armrests, the Aeron website likening it to a pair of “expertly fitted jogging shoes”.
Add into the mix its quirky appearance and the Aeron is a fully fledged sensation. It’s part of the permanent collection at the New York Museum of Modern Art and has won numerous industry accolades, its quality further attested to by its brilliant 10-year warranty. So if you spend hours sat at a desk, stretching and fidgeting to find a comfortable position, why not find out what all the fuss is about and nab an Aeron chair? They’re expensive, but we think your back will thank you for the investment.
