Solve the crime with the coolest CSI: Crime Scene Investigation merchandise

Back in the nineties our police procedural shows focussed on detectives and police officers, but nowadays we’re more used to the science behind the cops. You only have to switch on the TV on a Friday night to see shows like Criminal Minds, Bones, NCIS and Castle to see how popular the world of forensics is. And the show that made all this so popular is one of the biggest, and most watched, franchises in the world – CSI.

When Anthony Zuiker was just starting out he caught producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s eye, but he was looking for television ideas which Zuiker didn’t have. Until he spoke to his wife who’d got hooked on a new Discovery Channel show following forensic detectives solving cold cases. The advancements in forensic sciences coupled with Zuiker’s research into real Las Vegas crime scene investigators meant that the show became an almost instant hit, despite initial reviews doubting its survival.

But survive it did and whether it’s down to the stylish production, interesting characters, ridiculous crime-solving techniques or dark humour, we love it. The original series has recently been confirmed for its eleventh season, while the two spin-offs, CSI: Miami and CSI: New York, are also going strong. So it’s no surprise that with a series this popular there’s a host of cool and unusual merchandise floating about on the internet.

We can’t decide whether we’d prefer a full on CSI field kit or if we’d just need a fingerprinting kit to solve everyday mysteries like who used the last of the milk. Or maybe we’ll just get them both as well as a t-shirt, personalised nameplate for our desk and a CSI mug (just in case we manage to get the perpetrator to pay up for the missing milk). Whether you’re more of a field mouse or lab rat, the kits and games available will let you step into the shoes of your favourite characters.
