Be a kid for a day with the toys from Toy Story 3
Posted on June 23, 2010

Toy Story 3 gives us a chance to relive our childhood.
It’s been fifteen years since the first Toy Story film won our hearts with characters like Buzz (Tim Allen) and Woody (Tom Hanks), and it’s been ten years since we last saw them in the sequel. So it’s fair to say that the third film is highly anticipated, both by those of us who were kids for the first one, our parents and everyone who’s watched it since then. When stills and clips started appearing online we were instantly taken back to the days when our toys meant the world to us. And we can totally relate to Andy’s problem of going off to college and having to clear out his stuff.
But now college is done with and we’re grown-ups (almost), so we can buy whatever toys we want, and it just so happens we want pretty much all of the one’s in Toy Story 3. Whether it’s Andy’s collection from the original film, Jessie (Joan Cusack) or the new toys we meet at the Sunnyside day-care centre, we can’t resist these cool characters. Our current favourites are the eighties-tastic Ken and Barbie dolls (Michael Keaton and Jodi Benson), Trixie the triceratops (Flight of the Conchords’ Kristen Schaal) and the cool retro robot, Sparks.
When Andy decides to take Woody to college with him, he puts the rest of his toys in a bag destined for the loft but it mistakenly gets put into trash. Buzz manages to lead the gang to an escape, only to get into a box of donations because they think Andy doesn’t want them. Woody tries to convince them Andy wasn’t getting rid of them, but they are excited about a change of scenery and so they are welcomed into the group of toys at the centre by their leader Lots-O’-Huggin’ Bear (aka Lotso voiced by Ned Beatty).
But soon they realise that being played with by a bunch of energetic toddlers is not as fun as they had once thought, and there’s yet another escape. But that’s what we love about Toy Story; the toys out in the real world battling to get home. Along the way they meet some pretty retro toys as well as some cool ones, and we even spotted a Totoro in there! Treat yourself to a bit of nostalgia with the old and new toys of Toy Story 3 now.
