eBay find: Lightsaber autographed by Star Wars stars
Posted by Team Boxwish 21 days ago
With just one sleep until Halloween it’s a bit late to bid on movie-inspired costumes on eBay, and so we’re waving a fond farewell to fancy dress ensembles in our weekly eBay blog post. Instead we’ve found a real treat that is sure to excite pop culture vultures, sci-fi fans and the army of Star Wars lovers around the world – a master replica of the lightsaber wielded by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in the first three instalments of the celebrated space saga signed by Star Wars luminaries. It’s never too early to start a Christmas list and this has certainly jumped to the top of ours.
The prop replica is signed by a combination of onscreen favourites and those behind the scenes, with a definite appreciation for the Jedi. Names include Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu), Liam Neeson (Qui-Gon Jinn) and from the production team, stunt coordinator Nick Gillard, who began his illustrious career as a stuntman on 1977’s A New Hope. And, most importantly, the beard behind it all, none other than George Lucas.
And if that wasn’t enough, the lucky winning bidder will also take home a poster of sci-fi yarn, Jumper (also starring Jackson) signed by stars Hayden Christensen (who Star Wars fans know as the young Anakin Skywalker), Rachel Bilson and Jamie Bell. The lot opened for action on 26th October and will close on Thursday 5th November, with all proceeds being donated to the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.
Interestingly, it was a Star Wars fan, namely James Mawhinney that set about acquiring the prop and collecting the autographs, hoping that its sale could help the Hospice. James explains: “I hope that it exceeds my expectations and raises much-needed funds for the charity, as it is such a worthy and deserving cause.” A sentiment shared by the Hospice’s regional fundraiser, Claire Brown, who adds: “It’s truly exciting to have some of Hollywood’s biggest stars endorse this auction prize and get behind the Children’s Hospice. This item will undoubtedly raise the profile of Children’s Hospice and raise essential funds for our charity, which we are extremely grateful for.”
Currently an impressive 27 bids have been logged, and to make sure yours is one of them, bid on the item at the link below. All the best and may the force be with you.
