Steal Edward's look: His wardrobe secrets from The Twilight Saga: New Moon

In Twilight, Edward (Robert Pattinson) is the epitome of timeless elegance. The immortal vampire being outfitted in "well-fitted designer jeans, off the rack shirts that were tailored to fit in just the right way, a great classic black boot, American Apparel t-shirts and just the right kind of jacket,” so says the film’s costume designer, Wendy Chuck. And for its follow-up, The Twilight Saga: New Moon it was another helping of the same, albeit this time in the hands of new designer, Tish Monaghan.
In the original, Edward’s most eye-catching items are undoubtedly his pale grey pea coat (custom-made for the film) and the Gucci jacket he wears to the prom, both delivering a smart sophistication that perfectly complements his polite and polished personality. And again, he’s scrubbing up nicely in a suit worn to the birthday of his human love, Bella (Kristen Stewart).
“It’s a grey tweed suit, with little flecks of brown, blue and green,” describes Monaghan. “I wanted an old-world quality. In essence it was a suit he might have worn before he became a vampire, we wanted to keep some of that element.” It certainly has Edward’s old school gentleman quality and a good job too as he wears it for “90 per cent of the movie,” says the costumer. A lack of hygiene based on the fact that this is the outfit Bella imagines him in once he leaves Forks.
Away from her dreams of Edward, we catch up with him once again in Italy at the movie’s dramatic climax and surprise, surprise, he’s still in the same suit. “From the pristine appearance of the birthday party, to when we see him in Italy, his suit is now threadbare, he doesn’t have his jacket, his pants are dirty, [and] his shoes are scuffed,” adds Monaghan. Looks like he could do with a change of clothes!
