Team Boxwish quizzed: What are your plans for Halloween?
Posted by Team Boxwish 21 days ago
One day to go until the spookiest night of the year and here at Boxwish, we’ve been full of ideas for Halloween parties. From fancy dress costumes (still not got one? Check these out, some of them offer last-minute deliveries) to creepy clothing, from horrifying home dĂ©cor to scary soundtracks and sleepover suggestions to party games and now we’re turning the spotlight on us. It’s a mixed bag, some of us truly entering into the fun and games, heading out to Halloween parties and getting dressed up, while for others it’s all about a quiet night in and some scary films. We’ve even gotten the party started early today at Boxwish HQ, with many of us dressed accordingly (plenty of black and red and the odd superhero reference) and are busy fine tuning our jukebox of terrifying tunes to blast later this afternoon. But what about tomorrow? That’s the big question…
Nic: “I’m not sure what I’m doing for Halloween yet. I might go to a Halloween party, but I don’t have anything to dress up as [any suggestions for Nic, Boxwishers? He did don the military whites of Tom Cruise in Top Gun a few years back!] or I might just go out and have a few drinks (but won’t be dressing up). If I stay home and watch a film then it will probably be 30 Days of Night.”
Katie: “It’s all about the spooky movies come Halloween and this year I’m feeling in the mood for The Shining. I haven’t seen it in ages and Shelley Duvall’s screams might scare off any trick or treaters looking to muscle in on my chocolate!”
Ella: “I’m going to a burlesque/ music/ B-movie fancy dress night and dressing as a vampire. I’m going for an old school glamour look with a bit of a modern twist. Kinda Twilight meets Interview with a Vampire with a bit of The Lost Boys and Blade thrown in – if it was directed by Tim Burton. I’ve got a black corset, black velvet skirt, lace up heels and even some custom fangs!”
Ella will be sharing more about her costume in a special blog post later today.
Rachael: "My dad’s birthday is always All Saints Day and so the day before we usually do something “for the children”. The house will be covered in cobwebs and spooky games will be readied “for the children”. Plus drinks, warming winter food, good friends… that’s my Halloween (I might even dress up a little… again just to amuse the children of course!)."
Lucy: “I’ll be watching a tame spooky movie – not sure which one yet, that will be up for discussion with whomever is in on Saturday night. If it’s any more than tame, I’ll be watching it from behind a cushion. I’ll cover up my car to lessen the chance of having to scrape dried egg and flour off the next morning (I recently heard a horror story about trying to scrape dried porridge off of a car, apparently it takes days). I’ll try and carve a pumpkin and no doubt I’ll buy some spooky sweets/ chocolate to eat when I’m watching the film. I’ll be avoiding pumpkin pie, but maybe I’ll have pumpkin soup for lunch.”
Tim: "I’m going to a family Halloween party, with no plans to dress up. Having said that, my nickname is “bear” (don’t ask why) so I could claim to have dressed as a bear with no effort required. And to put a Boxwish movie spin on it, I could be the bear that Jackie Moon wrestles in Semi-Pro!"
Steve: “I don’t really have anything planned for Halloween. To be honest ,spooky movies don’t really do it for me, having said that I did love Zombieland though, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a laugh this Halloween.”
What about you, Boxwishers? Got any big Halloween plans or are you playing things more low-key? Please let us know and, if dressing up, we’d love for you to send us some of your pictures (hello@boxwish.com). Either way, happy Halloween!
