The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack tops the Billboard 200
Posted by Team Boxwish 18 days ago
It was held off by swing superstar Michael BublĂ© during its first week of release, but there’s no stopping the soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Having made do with the number two spot thanks to the Canadian crooner who unleashed his fourth studio album, “Crazy Love”, the soundtrack has now climbed to the top spot in the US Billboard 200. It’s only the album’s first full week of being available, its release rushed forward a week thanks to fan demand, and now with a full seven days of sales under its belt its claimed the number one position.
The New Moon soundtrack is effortlessly emulating the success of its predecessor, the Twilight soundtrack, making it an historical one-two, being the only time in Billboard records that a soundtrack and its sequel have reached number one. So congrats to all, from film composer, Alexandre Desplat (who recently was awarded at the World Soundtrack Awards for his efforts on the music for The Curious case of Benjamin Button, see Related Content, right) to music supervisor, Alexandra Patsavas, who secured the use of tracks from heavyweight artists like The Killers, Thom Yorke, Muse and Death Cab for Cutie whose single, “Meet Me On the Equinox” is currently at number 14 in the Modern Rock Radio.
We know that’s it’s going to be a long time until something else knocks it off the Boxwish jukebox, maybe the soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse…
