Spring is in the air and so to celebrate this sparkly new season full of flowers and showers, we’re kicking off our April competition. Last month we enjoyed the costumed heroes of Watchmen with a goodie bag of novelties inspired by the graphic novel adaptation, but this month we’re doing things a little differently. The journey from page to screen has been one trodden by many of Hollywood’s heaviest hitters. Think Gone with the Wind, The Lord of the Rings, The Godfather – all of these cinematic epics have their roots in literature and revisiting these original sources can be a fantastic way of adding depth to your film experience. Goodbye to 2008 from Boxwish

Wow! It’s the end of 2008 – Boxwish’s first year and we’re feeling pretty nostalgic. We launched nearly six months ago on the 15th July and haven’t looked back since. It’s been a hectic and busy time crammed full of movie magic and plenty more besides. Did you know that here at Boxwish we have over 3,000 Spots? Yes that’s 3,000 things that you’ve helped us Spot from the fantastic world of film. From things you can easily get your mitts on such as great male and female fashion, top merchandise and gotta-get gadgets to those that require a bit more of a budget such as cool cars and exotic locations. Merry Christmas from Boxwish!

Here at Boxwish we’ve been Christmas crazy for weeks and weeks now. We kicked off the festivities back in Mid November acting as your own personal stylist by kitting you out in the hottest fashions for the Christmas parties. Moving into December we scoured the best online stores to bring you oodles of gift-giving suggestions ranging from budget stocking fillers to movie-inspired gift experiences and now after eagerly opening our advent calendar windows every morning the big day is almost upon us. So hang your stocking up tonight, leave out some mince pies for Santa Claus and here’s hoping you wake tomorrow to a day of fun, frolics and perhaps the odd film! Boxwish Sex and the City competition closes

Splashing out on a pair of Manolo Blahniks can put a serious dent in your savings, however this year’s Sex and the City movie offered us mere mortals a new and affordable way to emulate the onscreen style of everyone’s favourite fashionista, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and it didn’t require a trip to the shoe shop – introducing The Love Letters of Great Men book. Carrie reads the romantic collection of messages from the likes of Beethoven and Napoleon snuggled in bed with Mr Big (Chris Noth) during the movie and it goes on to play a significant part in the pair’s relationship. Not available on release of the film, some clever bods at Macmillan Publishers quickly sent the book to the printers and voila! Instant SATC magic. And to celebrate here at Boxwish we ran a competiton in conjunction with OK.co.uk that offered 20 lucky folks a copy of the book.
