Smirnoff Vodka launches Quantum of Solace promotion
He won’t be asking barmen to serve his martini cocktail “shaken not stirred”, but in Quantum of Solace James Bond will, once again, be glugging Smirnoff Vodka. The super-spy has been drinking the premium brand booze since he first hit cinema screens back in 1962’s Dr. No, forging a working relationship that has lasted nearly 50 years and he’s back at it again later in the month. To celebrate the partnership, Smirnoff is launching an international marketing push to coincide with the release of Quantum of Solace offering a limited edition black cocktail shaker free with a 70cl bottle of Smirnoff Black Vodka.
All involved at Smirnoff seem excited at the continuation of such a long-standing and lucrative movie deal, with the company’s marketing director, Nick Robinson hailing it as “the ideal opportunity to reach our key target market and enhance perceptions of the brand. This powerful campaign emphasises the premiumisation potential across our vodka portfolio in the year ahead.”
Philip Gladman, Smirnoff’s global senior Vice-President added: “Almost half a century since the debut of the ‘shaken not stirred’ vodka martini, Smirnoff and James Bond are still the perfect match: two bold, iconic brands that epitomise originality and authenticity. This renewed partnership gives vodka drinkers around the world a taste of the Bond lifestyle, from cocktails to prestigious VIP premieres.”
Smirnoff will launch the “Quantum of Solace” and “The Black Martini” cocktails in tribute to the movie, though maybe they should link up with Coca-Cola (whose Coke Zero brand is also sponsoring the 22nd Bond flick) and make a special vodka and coke. No? Just a suggestion.
