Travel the world like James Bond
Choo, choo! All aboard the James Bond express. As the 007 band wagon continues to pick up steam with the release of Quantum of Solace at the end of the month, travel firms are really trying to add some 007 magic to their businesses. We’ve already told you about the tie-in with Ocean Sky, Britain’s biggest private jet company, while Virgin Atlantic also makes a cameo in the action adventure. But more removed from the Daniel Craig flick and yet still hoping to milk the cash cow are Saga, the over-50s travel firm, Orbitz and Cadogan Holidays, which are all busily flashing their double-0 credentials.
Cadogan Holidays has played to Bond lovers by encouraging fans to follow in the super-spy’s footsteps to some of their holiday locations. Included on this list of former Bond travel stops is Cairo (The Spy Who Loved Me), Spain (Die Another Day) and Capri (Casino Royale), but for those looking to the future, Saga has set its sights on the exotic locales of Quantum of Solace, specifically Chile. “If Bond had travelled with us to Chile he would have had a “Quantum of Fun”, rather than a “Quantum of Solace”, joked Saga’s chief executive, Andrew Goodsell, adding: “With more intrepid over 50s travelling to increasingly exotic destinations, Saga is pleased to be able to support these incredible trips by opening new, and more frequent, tours in destinations such as Chile.”
Travel website Orbitz is also playing the “be inspired by Bond” trump card, with discount travels to spots such as San Francisco, Jamaica and Austria. But for those of you unwilling to fork out, why not enter the “Travel like Bond” competition which offers the chance to win one of seven Bond adventures? Open only to US residents (boo!), a weekly draw is held which could see you head to Panama, Ecuador, Las Vegas, London, Istanbul, Los Cabos or Chile.
