Last week, we took stock of the best women’s fashions that hit cinema screens in 2008 and agreed that it had been a good year for the ladies. But how did it fare for the fellas? Not too shabby, thanks for asking. This past year has seen a whole glut of classy chaps parade their goods on the big screen. From young ‘uns like Zac Efron in High School Musical 3: Senior Year working the check shirts and skinny ties of today’s trends to the more established gentlemanly look of James Bond’s formal suits in Quantum of Solace. The fashions have reflected all weathers – the wintry knitwear in Zack and Miri Make a Porno to the sunny beachwear of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and both sides of the law – from superheroes Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Bruce Wayne (The Dark Knight) to the underworld criminals in RocknRolla. And we’ve rounded up three of our favourites to suit any budget…

3. Mountain Dew T-Shirt

This summer’s Frat Pack comedy Step Brothers was jam-packed with cool, quirky T-Shirts and we fell in love with the Mountain Dew one as worn by Will Ferrell’s overgrown man-child Brennan. We’ve found a dead ringer for Brennan’s which has the distinctive US soft drink’s logo emblazoned on it in a distressed style for vintage chic. Available across a range of sizes, best of all this 100 per cent cotton slogan tee is only £12!

2. Ray-Ban 3324 sunglasses

If James Bond is the quintessential British gentleman then surely Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) is America’s more modern equivalent. In The Dark Knight, he wears handmade to measure suits by Giorgio Armani, a biker jacket from Belstaff and these stylish aviator sunglasses by classic brand Ray-Ban. Bruce opts for the 3324 model with gunmetal frames that provide complete UVA and UVB cover while looking good whatever the weather.

1. Double breasted wool coat

Sitting pretty (or should we say handsomely?) at the top of the list is this delectable double breasted wool coat as worn by Daniel Craig’s 007 in Quantum of Solace. As Bond bundles up to face the cold Russian air, he dons this winter warmer and we’ve spotted a similar-looking one from Full Circle at Sarah Coogles. A hit with Boxwishers over the past few months, it’s as classic and stylish as the man who wears it.
