Blu-Ray release inspirations including Serenity
Welcome to another week Boxwishers. It’s the first Monday of the New Year and for many it’s that depressing trudge back to work. It’s a tough business getting back into the old routine after endless mince pies and mulled wine, but to make the grind that bit easier we’ve rounded up the new home entertainment options heading your way today. It’s pretty quiet for films on the DVD front with most new offerings fitness work-outs guilt-tripping you about that holiday weight, however if you’re already sleek and trim or don’t care that you’re not (Boxwish loves you just the way you are!), here’s some exciting movies new to Blu-Ray.
If you see… Serenity, the “space western” from Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon.
Why Not Go back to the beginning of the story with Firefly, Whedon’s cult TV show which was cancelled only to be followed by the film Serenity. Read the three-part comic book series which accompanies the film Serenity: Those Left Behind. Or go a step further by swotting up on some of the movie’s creative influences such as Shakespeare’s The Tempest (the movie’s planet Miranda is named after the play’s character) or “In Marge We Trust” an episode from the eighth season of The Simpsons which inspired the film’s Fruity Oaty Bar commercial.
If you see… FBI Agent Jamie Foxx and his team head to Saudi Arabia to investigate the bombing of a foreign-workers facility in action drama The Kingdom.
Why Not Test your reflexes and see if you have what it takes to join a FBI Critical Response Unit with this game from the movie’s official website. Listen to the movie’s soundtrack by celebrated Grammy-winner Danny Elfman. Or work the look of Jamie Foxx in the film by nabbing his Michael Kors Aviator sunglasses and Casio Pathfinder PAW1200-V3 watch.
If you see… Jet Li star as Chinese Martial Arts Master Huo Yuanjia who founded the Chin Wu Sports Federation in high-kicking wushu epic Fearless.
Why Not Doff your cap to Jet Li with this trailer maker that enables you to create your own customised highlight reel using footage from the film. Learn more about Chin Woo at the website for the World Chin Woo Federation. Or catch 1982’s Legend of a Fighter which also follows the life of the Martial Arts Master.

I got dragged to the cinema to see Serenity but can't say that i liked it that much. It's not half as good as Buffy!

Serenity is one of the most over-rated films ever. Always seems to get mentions but it's rubbish! Fearless is pretty cool, definitely worth getting on blu-ray for the fight scenes.
