After two kick-ass seasons, Chuck’s back for its third and it’s as action packed as ever. After it was announced that it might not return for a third season fans launches a massive campaign to ‘Save Chuck’, and thankfully it was successful. The NBC show burst onto out screens back in 2007 and after a shaky start it found favour with fans all over the world. As UK fans eagerly await the start of season three, US viewers have already been enjoying it for a couple of months. So to celebrate the return of the nerd-turned-spy we’ve found some awesome merchandise to satisfy your need for all things Chuck.
Chuck (Zachary Levi) is a twenty-something living in Burbank, California, with his sister Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) and her fiancé Devon, aka ‘Captain Awesome’ (Ryan McPartlin). He was kicked out of Stanford University just before completing his degree, and now he’s stuck working for the Nerd Herd at his local Buy More. Life is getting pretty boring for our hero when he receives an email from an old college friend, Bryce Larkin, containing an attachment. Little does he know that when he opens that email all the government secrets, held in a database called The Intersect, will be transferred into his brain. Pretty cool, huh?
Following the transfer of The Intersect, the government sent agents from the CIA and NSA to look after him. Sarah (played by Aussie actress Yvonne Strahovski) is a sexy yet deadly spy, who Chuck falls head over heels for (and with a body like that who wouldn’t?). But always getting in the middle of the unlikely couple is Casey (Adam Baldwin), a gun-loving agent sent to protect Chuck – but not to like him. As Chuck finds himself ‘flashing’ on the bad guys, Casey and Sarah take them out to protect him – yet the government are realising just how useful Chuck has become. Season two saw Chuck not only use The Intersect to catch the bad guys and find out what they were up to, but to learn skills (“Guys, I know kung fu”) in a Matrix-style download straight into his brain.
Although Chuck barely spends any time there, he keeps up his job at the Buy More as cover. Joined by his best friend Morgan (Joshua Gomez), boss Big Mike (Mark Christopher Lawrence) and fellow nerds, Jeff and Lester, Chuck begins to lead a double life. To get you going we’ve thrown in the season one and two DVDs so you can catch up on any of the action you’ve missed. But like most US TV shows, the merchandise is pretty limited in the UK, however we did manage to find a few choice T-shirts for you and even a Buy More mug. One of the coolest tees features the secret Buy More emergency codeword Pineapple – just be careful wearing this into your local store.
There’s a Captain Awesome T-shirt for all you Devon fans, and even an 80s metal style one for fictional band Jeffster made up of, you guessed it, Jeff and Lester. And we love the ‘Chuck Me’ one, inspired by Casey’s stunned reaction to Chuck’s new found kung fu skills. But coolest of all the merch has got to be the Buy More and Nerd Herd uniforms. Whether you’re a lowly sales boy like Morgan or a Nerd Herd-er like Chuck, there’s a cool T-shirt to show your status.
Does Chuck make a good spy?
