Earlier in the month we started to feel the force with our first look at the cool collaboration between adidas Originals and Star Wars. Like everyone else with a serious soft spot for the legendary sci-fi franchise and the sports brand, we thought it was simply awesome. Back then we brought you the clothing available in the range, consisting of fantastic graphic tees, track tops and hoodies, hell even a cape for the more erm, dramatic among you and now we’ve got that covered we’re looking to bring our feet in on the Star Wars action.
Like the clothing, the sneakers have all the sporty street style of the adidas originals brand fused with SW intergalactic fun and, like the clothing; they’ve been selling out all over the place. Guess that’s what happens when something genuinely cool comes along. In fact, its borderline impossible to snap up some of the pairs that were released as part of the spring/ summer collection, the demand’s been that huge.
However, we’ve not been deterred and have used our Jedi mind skills to sniff out some of the remaining pairs available to buy online (though beware – some are very low on sizes and there are US/ UK clashes). There are varying degrees of SW-ness on offer, allowing you to either keep things low-key or really dial it up to impress your mates.
In the more subtle corner are the likes of the ‘Superstar II’, the ‘Darth Vader Superstar II’ and the ‘Superstar Vin Death Star’ all black albeit not all for the Dark Side. If white trainers are more you thing, there’s the ‘Stormtrooper II’ or go for a neutral mid-ground with the grey ‘Samba X-wings’. Scale up the old school with the grey ‘AT Walker Forum Mids’ (loving that Velcro strap – that takes me back) and keeping with the same colours are the ‘TIE Fighter Nizza Hi’s’ which work more of a basketball feel.
And then for those of you that really want to make a shoe statement are the two boldest of the bunch – the ‘Micropacers’ with photo-print stills of the movies (yup, scuff up Han Solo and Chewbacca on your toes) and reflective overlays (sooo spacey!) and (gulp) ‘Yoda Boat Shoes’, which according to the sales blurb has “call outs to Yoda’s cloak and complexion [and] also features bamboo lace ends to represent the Jedi Master’s staff!”
A simply awesome collection of trainers guaranteed to earn approving nods all round.
