With The Twilight Saga: New Moon DVD release, the trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse popping up online and casting calls for Breaking Dawn, Twifans have had a pretty exciting couple of weeks. So we’re honouring the beautiful Bella by taking a look at her style. It’s simple yet chic, wearable but not boring. She manages to make even the most rainy town seem a little bit better.
Twilight has become iconic in so many ways in the last year, but there’s one item that’s benefited from this more than others. Bella’s blue BB Dakota jacket, which has since been renamed the ‘Twilight’ jacket, has seen a huge number of sales – even selling out and being listed on auction sites for double the price! But now it’s back in stock and looking as cool as ever. BB Dakota have embraced their Twilight connection and have recently announced an entire range inspired by Stephenie Meyer’s vampire romance series. They will be releasing the Twilight-inspired collection of plaid shirts, skinny cords and hoodies for fall 2010.
After moving to rainy Forks from Phoenix, Bella had to give her wardrobe a bit of a revamp (get it?) – swapping cardigans for jackets. Luckily she’s got style and we love her choices, particularly the blue BB Dakota jacket she favours in Twilight. But it’s not just this jacket that we normally wouldnt look twice at, Bella also rocks a cool pair of mittens, some UGG Adirondack boots, a Patagonia Rubicon Puff Insulated ski jacket and a pair of purple Hunter wellies in the saga.
Unbelievably the jacket was a last minute choice, as costume designer Wendy Chuck originally had Bella in a simple brown hoodie for the scene in question. Luckily the director of photography didn’t like Kristen’s hair and hoodie being the same colour, worried she might get lost. Chuck quickly nipped to Nordstrom Rack to pick another jacket, saying: “I literally brought that blue one on set just before they rolled cameras.” And we say well done to her for her great choice.
The jacket comes in a few different colours; forest green, black, beige and Bella’s lake blue. It’s a light weight jacket but it’s cleverly fleece lined so it’ll keep you warm in the Forks climate. The jacket has plenty of pocket to keep your bits and bobs in, two large button-close and four smaller zip ones on the front and a small stash pocket on the right arm. It’s got a drawstring hood to protect your hair in the wet weather, while still looking effortlessly stylish. The zips and buttons are all made of a brushed bronze metal, keeping the jacket cool but practical looking. And if you can’t get the original – don’t worry, we’ve found some great lookalikes for you!
Would the BB Dakota jacket be as popular if it wasn't worn by Bella?
