Forget what’s currently being paraded down the runways of Paris as when it comes to the very height of style there’s nothing more ‘in’ than vampires. Blame Twilight and Robert Pattinson or True Blood and Stephen Moyer (yes please!), but regardless of who masterminded the bloodsucking bonanza it’s something that we’ve all happily sunk our teeth/ fangs into. And it’s not just a look for Halloween, oh no, vamp-inspired fashion is for the everyday and most definitely, here to stay.
And the latest sexy new vamps on the block are courtesy of The Vampire Diaries, a spooky small screen series centred on two bloodsucking brothers; the heroic and brooding Stefan Salvatore (ex-24 hottie, Paul Wesley) and the more demonic Damon (Ian Somerhalder aka Boone from Lost) with the woman who gets caught in the middle, Elena Gilbert (Bulgaria-born Nina Dobrev). And while we might be drooling over the dueling bros, it’s Elena’s streetwise styles that we want to emulate (maybe it will help us snag our own supernatural studs), and this jacket is gorgeously typical of her fresh and funky fashion sense.
The leather bomber jacket is the handiwork of edgy L.A. designer Nick Bowes for his budding label, KRMA, and as well as Elena it’s earned a number of famous fans, from Fergie to Alicia Keys, Audrina Patridge to Pink and even turning up in other fashion-forward shows like 90210 guaranteeing that KRMA is seriously at the cutting edge of celebrity chic.
It’s pure biker cool adding attitude to any outfit, with bold and fierce details like the stand collar and front snaps yet it manages to be tough and boyish without seeming like you’re wearing a shapeless guy’s jacket. The femininity is subtle and far from sappy, simply being worked through in slight touches that complement rather than swamp the figure. These include the three-quarter length sleeves and sleeve ruching while the ribbed fabric on the cuffs and waistline and the cute cropped fit are bang on-trend.
Pure function meets fashion and just the look to lure any hunky vampires.
Elena is much better dressed than Bella (The Twilight Saga) and Sookie (True Blood). What do you think?
