Get the Carrie look with Sarah Jessica Parker's Sex and the City 2 Halston Heritage dresses

Carrie's got a new love - Halston Heritage.

If the first Sex and the City movie popularised Carrie’s gladiator sandals, then the hot trend from this summer’s Sex and the City 2 is definitely going to be dresses. Specifically retro seventies-style dresses like the Halston Heritage one’s Sarah Jessica Parker has been spotted in on set. SJP was appointed president and cheif creative officer of the Heritage branch of Halston midway through production of SATC2 and it definitely shows.

Stylist Patricia Field says that Carrie wears at least six dresses from the collection in the movie, but she doesn’t just put this down to her new role. “I was just personally a little bit tired of all of these exaggerated, artificial shapes on clothing,” she said. “Shoulders pointed out to there and skirts that look ballooned. I was just feeling — desiring — like, chic simplicity. And so I had turned to Halston.” And we’re glad she did as the cute jersey dresses and pleated maxis are the perfect relief from the structured and body con outfits we’ve been sporting all winter.

We’ve spotted a few of the dresses in the movie so far, most obviously the white v-neck jersey dress Carrie was wearing in the first stills seen and in the promotional posters. It’s a simple dress but it looks fantastic on, especially with the right accessories (gold Christian Louboutin Pigalle shoes, Solange Azagury-Partridge Random necklace and Mykita & Bernhard Willhelm Franz sunglasses). We also spotted the purple metallic stripe dress pretty early on, which is fast becoming one of our fashion favourites from the film.

And it doesn’t stop in New York, as the girls head to Abu Dhabi on holiday Carrie takes her Halston dresses with her. In various stills and clips we spotted her in the peach coloured one-shoulder kaftan-style cape dress, accessorised with a turban of course! And the gorgeous orange maxi version of the purple dress was also spotted out in the desert. The dresses are still available to buy but are selling out super fast so grab yours now for the perfect summer outfit – you could even wear it to watch the new movie.
