Whether it’s the Halston Heritage dresses, summer sunglasses or even the computers, we can’t get enough of Sex and the City 2. After following Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) from the beginning of the HBO series and the first film, the second instalment of the big screen Sex and the City is finally here and today we’re checking out some of the jewellery from the film.
Since there are so many costume changes during the film there are almost the same number of jewellery changes, but a few pieces have really managed to stand out. From Carrie’s multi-layer gold bead Otazu necklace to the vintage Rolex she gives Big (Chris Noth) for their anniversary, jewellery plays quite a big part in this film. We’ve picked four of our favourite pieces (that are available to buy online) from Sex and the City 2 – if only we could buy them all!
Turns out our favourites come from Samantha and Carrie, and both of them are rocking one of the hottest trends for A/W 2010. Cleopatra’s back as the catwalks were full of blunt fringes, huge necklaces, dark eye make-up and Egyptian symbols. With her Otazu necklace Carrie’s getting in there early and Samantha isn’t far behind with her Wendy Brandes Cleopatra earrings. These gorgeous gold snaky earrings are 18k yellow cold with 1.36 carats of diamonds and therefore come in at $7250 (check her website for cheaper variations on the materials).
Samantha also wears a small but beautiful pendant from Jennifer Fisher, whose jewellery can also be seen on both Charlotte and Miranda during the film. It’s a small gold disc with a ring of white diamonds surrounding the small trademark F stamped in the middle. Another necklace we’re craving is Carrie’s four leaf clover pendant from Jennifer Zeuner – the perfect summer accessory which can be seen with her purple Halston dress.
But the stand out jewellery has to be the pieces from Itay Malkin. Carrie wears his black diamond bead necklace in the film, but it’s the black diamond ring that Big presents to her that’s caught our eye. The 5 carat black diamond is set in 18k white gold and surrounded by 80 white pave diamonds, so it’s no surprise it costs a huge $10,000. And why does he give her this amazing gift? He explains it’s: “because you are not like anyone else”. Malkin’s ring was chosen over 20 other jewellers’ designs by both SJP and director Michael Patrick King, he says: "It was an honor to have my design chosen for such an emotionally important scene”.
Treat yourself or someone you love to one of the iconic pieces from Sex and the City 2 before they sell out.
