Ever since the original series, Sex and the City has been as concerned with the fashion as the plot. Where would we be without Charlotte’s (Kristin Davis) preppy looks, Miranda’s (Cynthia Nixon) simple chic outfits, Samantha’s (Kim Cattrall) sexy style and Carrie’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) quirky, trendsetting looks? And they’re not stopping as they head in theatres onece again for Sex and the City 2, the second movie in the franchise.
You might have noticed the Halston Heritage dresses Carrie favours in this film, and while they’re not as expensive as some of the other items featured over the years, they are still a bit of an impulse buy. But we might just have the solution for you as ASOS have created a set of lookalikes for the entire outfit Carrie wears in the promotional posters and the movie. And it’s all very affordable!
The white jersey dress is dead ringer for the 70’s-style Halston Heritage one Carrie wears at the beginning of the trailers, and they even do it in a peach colour too. The golden glittery shoes are based on her Christian Louboutin gold Pigalle stilettos, and while not quite as high they still look gorgeous. They’ve even made lookalikes for the mirrored Mykita & Bernhard Willhelm Franz sunglasses, which will look amazing in the sun.
The necklace Carrie wears with this outfit comes from Solange Azagury-Partridge and is made up of lots of little square gems making the ‘Random’ piece very expensive. So ASOS took the initiative to recreate another piece of her jewellery from the film – the small four leaf clover charm necklace she wears with her purple Halston dress. It would definitely look just as good with this outfit, matching well with the shoes and sunnies. But now we’re desperate for them to make a gorgeous golden clutch like the Chanel one Carrie has!
These items are sure to sell out fast now that the film is out, so better grab them quick. We’re amazed that we can now recreate this iconic outfit for around $150/£90!
Is Carrie's look fashion forward or over the top?
